What is Artsonia?
Artsonia is an educational company founded on a dream - to use the power of the Internet to unleash the creativity of young people all over the world!
Artsonia offers schools a unique service that enables them to achieve three important educational goals:
1. Integrate technology into the classroom: Teachers and students can engage in creative art projects around a wide range of social, cultural, artistic and other scholastic themes. They can then scan, process and publish their artwork on Artsonia - the largest student art museum on the Internet.
2. Develop multi-cultural understanding: Classrooms can engage in "virtual field trips" within Artsonia to view the artwork of other students, interact with them and develop an understanding of how other students live, learn, and play.
3. Increase parental involvement in their children's education: Parents and extended family members can come to Artsonia to see their children's creative work, provide them encouragement and appreciation online, and engage them in a dialog around their education and accomplishments.
How can you be involved?
Simply click on the link below to go to the Major George S. Welch page on Artsonia. Once there you can simply browse, invite family and friends to visit Artsonia, or support the art program by purchasing an item with your child's artwork printed on it. Artsonia is a terrific company that provides students' art to be viewed world wide, and supports the teachers! Artsonia gives back to classrooms when you make a purchase in their gift shop. For every dollar you spend at Artsonia for a one-of-a-kind memento, Artsonia gives the Welch Elementary art room 20%. Therefore you can look at your purchase as a donation to the art room too, and I thank you for supporting the art room!
In addition, I would LOVE to see the students composing Artist Statements on Artsonia. This opportunity provides students the chance to talk/write about their art; allowing them to engage their language arts skills! And as a visitor to your child's Artsonia page, please Register them and leave them comments too. They will love seeing what you write about their art too!
