Mrs. Minto While this is my first year as art teacher for H.O. Brittingham, it is definitely not my first year as an art teacher. Previously, I taught at Welch Elementary School, in Dover Delaware. I have lived, and worked in Delaware since the fall of 2001. Prior to that I attended Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for a total of 5 years. While studying at Edinboro, I earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography, a certification of Art Education for grades K-12, and a minor in art history. Needless to say, I love being a part of the art world and being around student artwork each and everyday. One question students often ask me is "when did you know you wanted to be an artist?" My response is always the same, "since first grade." "In first grade, my mom entered a piece of my artwork in a contest. As part of the contest each child had to draw a picture of their dad doing something they loved for a fathers day display. I won first place, my mom framed my art work, and since then I knew I would do something with the arts."
I then graduated, again, August 2007 from the University of Delaware. There I earned a Masters of Instruction in Educational Technology. I hope to enhance understanding and knowledge of technology in relation to the art world, and open students minds to traditional art medias, as well as, the ever growing field of technology. My family is very important to me too! I am married to Jason Minto and we have one daughter, Maggie. While we love to spend time at home relaxing or working outside in our "woods" we also love many outdoor activities. Our family kayaks, camps, rides bikes, goes to the beach, enjoys amusement parks, and many other activities. I believe exercising is an important part of life; I enjoy running on my own, as well as, racing in 5K/10K/10 milers/half marathons. In addition, I enjoy yoga, after all that running it feels nice to stretch everything out! |
